Air Compressor Preventative Maintenance Checklist
The daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual PM tasks that keep an industrial air compressor alive - plus the run-hour service intervals for rotary screw and reciprocating units. The same checklist we hand our own PM customers.
Scope
The Checklist By Interval
Daily (Every Shift)
Oil level. Discharge pressure. Operating temperature. Automatic drain fired. Visual walk-around for leaks and loose fasteners. Log anything abnormal.
Weekly
Manually drain receiver tank if not automatic. Wipe down compressor. Check dryer dew point indicator. Inspect compressor room ventilation and clearances.
Monthly
Inspect belts and couplings. Check drain valves and traps. Confirm no oil in condensate. Review run hours vs schedule. Blow out cooler fins.
Quarterly
Full cooler cleaning. Inspect motor and airend for vibration or noise change. Check safety relief valve. Review fluid analysis if used. Test lead-lag sequencing.
Run-Hour Service
Fluid, air filter, oil filter, and separator changed on OEM run-hour intervals - typically 2,000 to 8,000 hours for rotary screws depending on fluid and environment.
Annual
Full electrical inspection, safety valve test, motor bearing check, receiver tank inspection, drain rebuild, dryer service, and a written condition report.
